Quick and reliable fire suppression system are imperative to ensuring the safety of all faculty, staff, and students and visitors who live, work, and learn on the Texas A&M University Campuses. With this in mind, it is understood that a greater potential for damage to water-based fire protection systems exist during extended/extreme cold weather events. It is also recognized that damages to the systems from these events may necessitate longer outage times, significant repairs, inconvenience to occupants, as well as a greater financial burden to the university should a failure of a system occur due to such an event.
To mitigate these risks, this process has been created and outlines the approval and implementation process for this procedure should conditions warrant. This procedure will be evaluated on a facility by facility and event by event basis after considering relevant factors.
